Amy & TQ's modern destination wedding
Amy and TQ met in college and proceeded to chase each other around the globe for the next 8 years. Their jobs required lots of travel, so they had dates in airport bars and traveled to exotic locations whenever possible. Naturally, when the time came, TQ proposed to Amy in an airport. They set a date for a destination wedding (Bali!) and began planning. When Amy approached us about custom invitation design, she was full of great ideas and we were thrilled to help. We started with world map destination save the dates which showed the many places Amy and TQ met over their courtship, and then moved on to accordion-folding invitations including their full story and proposal details, with quirky text and illustration to match. For the wedding weekend, we designed tote bags to hold favors including custom designed CD cases and a weekend itinerary booklet. We also worked together on icon city-themed table numbers, airplane ticket-style menus, and luggage-tag shaped wedding programs.
Our only regret is that we couldn't fit ourselves in someone's suitcase for this amazing wedding. These beautiful photos are by Erin Hearts Court, and you can see more details on Martha Stewart Weddings.
"Ellie was a delight to work with. From the beginning, my husband and I knew that our stationery and paper ephemera would set the tone for the wedding's look and feel, and so we searched for a long time before finding a designer who could capture the blend of boldness, playfulness, and sophistication we wanted to express. Working with Ellie was definitely the right call -- she understood our needs clearly, proposed creative new ideas, and was really responsive. She also provided clear instructions to our printer in Singapore, which made our lives much easier! To this day, we treasure our paper mementos from the wedding."
